For millions of viewers, Collin Gosselin is still frozen in childhood.
He was one of the six tiny sextuplets racing around the family home on Jon & Kate Plus 8, often dressed in coordinating clothes alongside siblings Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah and Joel. Collin was born on May 10, 2004, one of Jon and Kate Gosselin’s sextuplets.
When Jon & Kate Plus 8 began in 2007, he was only three.
The series turned an extraordinarily busy household into television entertainment, following Jon and Kate as they raised eight children: twins Cara and Mady and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel. Still, seeing the photographs side by side can be startling.
The little boy with cropped hair and a round childhood face has become a tattooed 22-year-old with tousled hair and a mustache.
And his physical transformation accompanies a much bigger change in his life.
He has willingly returned to reality television
Collin’s appearance on Special Forces is particularly significant because of his complicated feelings about growing up on television.

He has said that as a child, being on television wasn’t his decision.

His father had an emotional reaction
Collin also revealed that his father, Jon Gosselin, was among the people supporting his decision.
He told E! News that there were “a lot of tears” and expressions of love when his family learned he would compete. He specifically mentioned Jon and Jon’s former partner Colleen Conrad as people who were proud and supportive. E! Online
Collin said that encouragement mattered because recognizing your own accomplishments isn’t always easy.
And while undergoing the brutal challenges on Special Forces, he said he found himself thinking about somebody unexpected: his younger self.

His relationship with Kate remains fractured
Collin’s adult transformation isn’t merely physical.
He has been outspoken about his estrangement from his mother, Kate Gosselin, and has made serious allegations about his childhood treatment. Kate has disputed allegations of abuse and previously offered a sharply different account of Collin’s behavior and the decisions made regarding his care.
The disagreement remains unresolved publicly.
Interestingly, Kate also competed on Special Forces. She appeared during Season 1 in 2023 but was medically withdrawn following an injury.
Collin acknowledged that his mother’s participation initially affected the way he thought about competing.

For most of his childhood, other adults decided when he would appear on television and how his family’s story would be presented.
