From the outside, Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin’s life sounds like classic Beverly Hills glamour. They are two longtime actors, their daughters became successful models, and their gated home sits on roughly an acre in one of America’s most famous ZIP codes.
Walk through the front door, however, and the picture has always been rather different.
Instead of a stark white celebrity mansion remodeled every few years to follow the latest trend, their house is warm, crowded and unmistakably lived-in. There are family photographs on almost every available surface, well-worn sofas, traditional rugs, old wooden cabinets, stacks of books and a kitchen that looks like people actually cook in it.
And that’s exactly the point.

The story of the home actually predates their marriage by a decade.

And the house came with some romantic history that Lisa has never tried to hide.
Harry had originally lived there with his first wife, actress Laura Johnson. Lisa later revealed that the house had been created during that previous marriage.
That history might have made some new partners uncomfortable.

The living room is almost the opposite of a modern celebrity mansion
One of the most revealing rooms is the living room.
Forget enormous expanses of white marble and furniture that looks as though nobody is allowed to sit on it.
Lisa and Harry’s room is built around oversized cream-colored furniture, a wooden coffee table, traditional lamps, family photographs and books.
In 2017, Lisa invited the Los Angeles Times inside and called it her favorite room in the house.
She wanted it to be somewhere people could essentially flop down and get comfortable.
And it looks exactly like that.
The cream sofas and armchairs surround a fireplace. Books cover portions of the coffee table. Lamps sit on traditional side tables. Family photographs and sentimental objects are scattered around the room instead of hidden away to achieve a perfectly minimalist aesthetic.
There are even reminders of the house’s age.
Cracks left from the 1994 Northridge earthquake remained visible, while older Italian stone flooring was preserved rather than replaced simply because fashions changed.
Some of the decorations aren’t decorations at all — they’re family history
Look closely around the living room and many objects have stories.
Artwork hanging above the fireplace came from Harry’s family.
There are framed photographs throughout the space.
A piano sits near French doors leading toward the garden, surrounded by more artwork, lamps and sheet music.
Nothing appears arranged simply because an interior designer decided it matched.
The room has accumulated objects.
That’s part of what makes photographs of it so different from the homes typically associated with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The house doesn’t look as though someone finished decorating it yesterday.

And then there’s Harry’s kitchen

Harry has spent years cooking there — sometimes while Housewives drama unfolded elsewhere in the house.

Viewers saw Harry cooking.
They saw Lisa getting ready.
They watched Delilah and Amelia grow from teenagers into young women.
And because the family didn’t radically redecorate the property for television, audiences became intimately familiar with its slightly eccentric interiors.

When Amelia showed followers the house she shared with Delilah, she called it their “perfect lil house.”
Their kitchen was particularly striking.
White cabinetry.
Gold hardware.
A farmhouse sink with a gold faucet.
Marble surfaces.
High-end appliances.

Lisa has spent decades working in industries obsessed with appearance.
