When deputies approached, they believed the driver appeared intoxicated and began a DUI investigation.

While deputies conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, the Sheriff’s Department alleges that Thomas appeared intoxicated and repeatedly exited the vehicle.

Authorities allege he kicked a deputy
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Thomas allegedly kicked a deputy in the stomach while officers were attempting to detain him.

The Los Angeles Times reported that he spent the night in jail and was released Tuesday afternoon. Its review of records indicated that no formal criminal complaint had been filed at that point and that the incident was reclassified in those records as a detention.
